Anemone Coronaria – Pink Sapphire Ring

Blush at one edge, and at the heart a pink so deep it reads almost as red. Between those two stones sits every intervening degree of colour, and the distance between them is the whole pleasure of the ring.

Pink sapphires of 5.85 carats carry it, cut as ovals, a pear and a single octagon. The colour spreads rather than graduates, so the eye travels the full reach of pink in one small face.

Mother of pearl, cut to a bespoke profile, curves around the cluster and returns the light the sapphires draw in — a soft lit surround holding saturated colour at its centre, and the arrangement the flower itself uses.

Everything is set stone by stone: the larger sapphires claw-set, the smaller bezelled, the diamonds rub-over in individual collets so each reads as its own point of light. Natural pearls rest round and opaque at the outer edge. The gallery beneath stays open, and light rises through the paler stones from behind.
