Turn the centre of the flower and it moves. Not a single stone spinning loose in a collar, but the entire head — centre stone, sapphires and diamonds together — mounted to rotate as one against the petals beneath. That is a different order of work altogether.
Turn the lotus and it opens beneath your fingers. A blue topaz of 10.04 carats, carved as a flower and mounted to rotate within its setting, so the petals travel under the eye and the bloom takes a new position with every turn. The carving is what makes the movement visible.
A lotus seen from directly above, carved into blue topaz — petals cut in relief, layered and overlapping, folding inward to a raised heart. Ten millimetres across, and 10.67 carats to the pair. Topaz is transparent, and that is what gives the carving its depth.
