The evening primrose (Oenothera) is a flower with a habit rather than a shape. It opens after sunset, over the course of a few minutes, and by the following morning it has finished. Eve has designed to the habit: petals held open around a centre that keeps its colour.
The band curves round the finger and stays open at the tail, weighted at one end and tapering away at the other, exactly as a stem carries a flower. Eve has taken the evening primrose (Oenothera) from the stalk here rather than from the bloom.
The blue arrives as a single sheet of colour. Small sapphires are invisibly set into one unbroken plane — each stone grooved along its girdle and locked to a framework beneath, stone meeting stone across the whole surface — so the petal carries its blue as one continuous field.
