Emerald Cascade Pendant

The green deepens as it falls. Colombian emeralds run the length of the pendant, growing in size and in saturation together — the palest and smallest at the top, the fullest green and the largest at the base — so the colour arrives gradually and settles at the foot of the drop.

Colombia produces the green the world measures every other emerald against: warm, faintly blue, and saturated in a way the material rarely achieves elsewhere. It forms in black shale rather than the granitic rock behind most deposits, and the stones carry a signature the laboratory can read — tiny cavities holding gas, liquid and a crystal of salt together, the fingerprint of a Colombian origin.

Every emerald grows with its own markings, which is why a graded run of them is the achievement here. Stepping from one size to the next, with the green strengthening at each stage, means selecting for the stones in between as carefully as for the two ends of the run.

Diamonds run alongside, and the whole is set in white gold at 33 by 6 millimetres — a narrow line, and an easy one to wear beside almost anything.

From The Regal Line, within Kaleidoscope: the great colours, simply set, and made to be worn often.

Description & Details

Colombian emerald rarely grows clean, and the inclusions are the proof of where it came from. This pendant grades green from deep to pale across the run rather than working around the variation.
