Three sapphires to each ear in a deep, saturated blue — an oval of 7 by 5 millimetres at the lobe, two of 4 by 3 beneath, 3.81 carats across the pair. Each claw-set with the girdle left open, so light enters from behind and travels the full depth of the stone.
Three sections, each hinged to the one above, so the earring articulates along its full length and every part moves on its own as it falls. The sapphire pavé is graded across each surface. Pale, almost colourless blue runs alongside mid-blue and near-navy on the same plane, the deepest stones gathered where the metal folds and the palest where it…
The earring is mostly shell. Mother of pearl carved into two plates — a lobed form at the ear, a broader shield below — each domed and undulating, so light travels across the surface in a slow shift rather than catching at a single point. Nacre releases light gradually.
Water never repeats itself, and neither does this bracelet. The sapphire line runs straight along the wrist, gathers into a scroll where a wave turns over on itself, then releases and runs on. Each section differs from the one before it. The blue is unbroken.
