Pretty in Pink – Rosé Ring

The centre stone lies across the finger rather than along it. Setting a cushion east-west changes how a ring wears entirely: it fills the width of the finger, and it sits wider and lower on the hand than the same stone set the conventional way.

The halo follows that logic. Round diamonds arc over the top and along the bottom, and at the two ends the setting opens, so the shoulder stones come straight in and meet the centre. The stone is handed on rather than enclosed.

What meets it is a sequence of cuts, each one different. An emerald-cut baguette sits directly against the centre, its long straight edge running parallel to the stone. Beyond it a pear, set point inward. Beyond that a second pear, smaller, drawing the shoulder down to the shank. Step cut, then brilliant, then brilliant: flat planes giving way to sparkle as the ring narrows, so the light grows busier the further it travels from the centre.

White metal throughout, with fine pointed claws at the centre, kept small so the colour carries the ring.

An easy classic — right at any hour, and made to be lived in.
